With rumors swirling about which company got the contract, the Wall Street Journal identifying the supposed contractor, and a Department of Defense under secretary having signed off, all that remains is for the U.S. Air Force to tell which company will build the first GPS III satellites.

Yes we do, says the European Space Agency (ESA). Following its April 27 launch, GIOVE- B, the second Galileo satellite, began transmitting navigation data on May 7, the ESA reported.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved a decision to continue the inland component of the Nationwide Differential GPS (NDGPS), based on the results of a user assessment conducted by the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA).

The second Galileo demonstration satellite, GIOVE-B, successfully lifted off in the early morning hours of April 27 and subsequently reached its target orbit, the European Space Agency (ESA) says.

Russian space technicians have moved the Soyuz launcher that will carry GIOVE-B satellite into orbit from a final-assembly building to a launch pad in preparation for liftoff on Sunday morning, April 27, the European Space Agency (ESA) said today. And the launch will be coming to a computer monitor near you.

On the eve of the launch of Galileo's GIOVE-B satellite, the European Parliament has backed plans developed by other branches of the European Union for the beleaguered European GNSS.

The European Space Agency's (ESA) governing council has appointed several directorate positions within the agency, including a director of the Galileo program and navigation-related activities.

The European Space Agency (ESA) has awarded a contract to Germany's Ifen GmbH to develop the next-generation ranging and integrity monitoring stations (RIMS) receiver breadboard for use with the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS).

The GPS OCX program is in a head-to-head competition between Raytheon and Northrup Grumman. That competition still has 12 months to go before a final down-select. The SECAF feels the competition is progressing as planned and looks for an award about this time next year.
